Vihaara Films is a Hyderabad-based documentary production house. We make films about food, music, travel, lifestyle, and culture, but more specifically about the people who live inside these worlds and rarely get to tell their own stories.
Every subject we choose, we choose deliberately. Every film begins with genuine curiosity, lived experiences, and careful research.
Our debut documentary The Otherside grew out of years spent running a bar and kitchen. Indie Chimes, our ongoing feature, comes from a genuine fascination with the communities keeping independent music alive across India. Every film we make begins with a question we actually want answered.
We are constantly in search of the right stories, whether that takes the shape of long-form journalism or fiction pieces. We aim to document cultural landscapes that are always shifting, and to bring local narratives across cultures, communities, and creative lives that make up contemporary India to audiences far wider than their immediate world with authenticity and cinematic clarity.

Paati’s Pantry is a cookbook that celebrates the culinary wisdom passed down through generations. In tandem with our film The Otherside, we travelled through countless bylanes of towns across South India, meeting people who share an equal passion for food. The recipes we gathered along the way are accompanied by the stories of the women who cooked them and the traditions they carry forward.
